Fuel Tank Assembly: Installation

  1. Connect 2 fuel tank tubes with tube joint clips. Check that there are no scratches or foreign objects on connecting parts. Check that connector is fully inserted. Check that tube joint clip is on collar of connector. After installing tube joint clip, check that tubes are securely connected by pulling.
  2. Install 3 NEW fuel tank cushions to fuel tank.
  3. Raise fuel tank assembly into place with floor jack. Install fuel tank and fuel tank bands with 2 bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Push in tube connector for fuel tank breather tube until it clicks. Check that pipe and connector are securely connected by pulling.
  5. Connect fuel tank main tube and return tube. Push in tube connectors until they click. Check that pipes and connectors are securely connected by pulling.
  6. Raise fuel tank protector into place with floor jack. Install fuel tank protector with 6 bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Connect fuel tank to filler pipe hose. See Figure.
  8. Check for fuel leaks.
