Power Window Regulator Motor (Front): Removal
- Remove the front door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL (FRONT) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION under POWER DOOR LOCKS & TRUNK LID article under DOOR LOCKS & ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT.
- Remove the front No. 2 speaker by disconnecting the 2 connectors and the 2 bolts. See Fig 1.
- Remove the outside rear view mirror by disconnecting the connector and removing the bolt.
- Remove the front No. 1 speaker. Disconnect the connector. Using a drill bit of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the rivet heads and remove the speaker. Gently and vertically put the drill to the rivet, and cut the rivet flanges. Even if the flange is taken off, continue drilling and push out remaining fragments with the drill. Using a vacuum cleaner, remove the drilled rivets and their metal shavings from the inside of the door.
- Remove the inside handle by removing the screw and disconnecting the 2 cables from the inside handle. See Fig 2.
- Remove the service hole cover by removing the 2 screws and door trim bracket. See Fig 3.
- Remove the front door inside panel plate by removing the 2 screws.
- Remove the No. 2 service hole cover (service hole plate) by removing the 2 screws.
- Remove the front door belt moulding. Remove a screw. Apply protective tape to the outer surface to keep the surface from being scratched. See Fig 4.
- Remove the door glass. See Fig 5. Open the door glass until the bolts appear in the service hole. Remove the 2 bolts and door glass. Pull the glass upward to remove it.
- Remove the window regulator. See Fig 6. Disconnect the connector and disengage the clamps. Remove the 6 bolts and window regulator.
- Remove the window regulator motor. Place matchmarks on the window regulator motor bracket and regulator gear. Remove the 3 screws and motor.
WARNING:
Take care because the cut rivet is hot.
CAUTION:
Prying the hole with a drill bit can lead to damage of the rivet hole or breaking the drill bit.
CAUTION:
Do not damage the door glass.
NOTE:
Insert a shop rag inside the door panel to prevent scratching the glass.
