Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Check the pattern select switch using DATA LIST. If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 3 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the pattern select switch. See PATTERN SELECT SWITCH under COMPONENT TESTS in DIAGNOSIS - A-650E under AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION in TRANSAXLE/TRANSMISSION. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the pattern select switch located on the lower cluster finish panel. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANEL article.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between pattern select switch and passenger side junction block (body No. 3) ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 3 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
