Inspection Procedure

NOTE: If not using the LEXUS hand-held tester, start the inspection from step  2.
  1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3. See Figure. Check the stop light switch using DATA LIST. If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 2 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, go to the next step.
  2. Check the stop light switch. See STOP LIGHT SWITCH  under COMPONENT TESTS. If the results are OK, go to the next step. If the results are not good, replace the stop light switch. See STOP LIGHT SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  3. Check the wiring harness and connector between the stop light switch and driver side junction block (body No. 2) ECU. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If the results are OK, proceed to the next circuit inspection of the problem symptom. See PROBLEM SYMPTOM INDEX (BODY NO. 2 CONTROL SYSTEM)  table. If the results are not good, repair or replace the wiring harness or connector.
