Wheel Speed Sensor (Front): Installation

  1. Clean the contacting surface of the axle hub and a new speed sensor. Do not stick any foreign objects to the sensor rotor.
  2. Place the speed sensor on the axle hub so that the connector will be correctly positioned. See Fig 1.
  3. Using special tool (09214-76011) and a press, install a new speed sensor to the axle hub. Do not tap the speed sensor with a hammer. Check that there are no foreign objects on the speed sensor detection portion. Press in the speed sensor straight and slowly. See Fig 2.
  4. Connect the flexible hose and speed sensor harness clamp to the shock absorber and tighten bolt to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  5. To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten all bolts and nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. Connect speed sensor connector.
  7. Install front fender liner and front wheel and tighten lug nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Check speed sensor signal. See ABS SENSOR SIGNAL CHECK  under COMPONENT TESTS.
