Active Test

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Matrix and 2003 Toyota Corolla. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Performing ACTIVE TEST using hand-held tester allows relay, vacuum switching valve (VSV), actuator and so on to operate without parts removal. Performing ACTIVE TEST as a first step of trouble shooting is one of method to shorten labor time. It is possible to display DATA LIST during ACTIVE TEST.
  1. Warm up engine and turn ignition switch OFF.
  2. Connect OBD II scan tool or hand-held tester to DLC3. See Figure.
  3. Turn ignition switch ON. According to display on tester, perform ACTIVE TEST.
    • For Corolla and Matrix (1ZZ-FE engine) models, see Fig 1.
    • For Matrix (2ZZ-GE engine) model, see Fig 2.
