Using An Ammeter

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove driver door ECU from driver door armrest. See DRIVER DOOR OR FRONT PASSENGER DOOR ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect 25-pin electrical harness connector from driver door ECU.
  2. Connect positive lead of ammeter to driver door ECU 25-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 1. Connect negative lead of ammeter to negative battery terminal. Using a jumper wire, connect positive battery terminal to driver door ECU 25-pin electrical harness connector terminal No. 14. See Figure.
  3. Current flow should be about 7 amps as window is going down and increase up to about 14.5 amps or more when the window stops. If current flow is as specified, replace driver door ECU. If current flow is not as specified, replace power window motor.
