Light Failure Sensor Circuit Tests

Turn ignition off. Disconnect 12-pin electrical harness connector from light failure sensor. Light failure sensor is located in left rear corner of luggage compartment. Using a DVOM, check continuity between specified terminals of 12-pin light failure sensor electrical harness connector. See Fig 1. See LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS  table. If circuits are not as specified, check wiring harness connections at other components. If circuits are as specified, replace light failure sensor. See LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.

LIGHT FAILURE SENSOR CIRCUIT SPECIFICATIONS

DVOM Test Points Condition Specification
Check Continuity Between Body Ground & Specified Harness Connector Terminal
1 Under All Conditions (1) Continuity
2 Under All Conditions (1) Continuity
9 Under All Conditions (1) Continuity
10 Under All Conditions (1) Continuity
11 Under All Conditions Continuity
12 Under All Conditions (1) Continuity
Check Voltage Between Body Ground & Specified Terminal
3 Light Control Switch In OFF Position No Voltage
3 Light Control Switch In TAIL Or HEAD Position Battery Voltage
4 & 8 Ignition Switch In LOCK Or ACC Position No Voltage
4 & 8 Ignition Switch In ON Position Battery Voltage
7 Brakelight Switch Off No Voltage
7 Brakelight Switch On Battery Voltage
(1) Resistance will be present because circuit is grounded through bulb.
