Preliminary Diagnostic Trouble Code Check

- Retrieve diagnostic trouble codes. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . If no DTCs or no normal code is output, confirm integrity of diagnostic circuit. See SYMPTOM INDEX table under SYSTEM TESTS.
- If DTCs are output, record codes for later use and clear diagnostic trouble codes. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES . If normal code is output, an intermittent condition may exist. Return to step 3) of PRELIMINARY INSPECTION .
