WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota Tundra, 2002 Toyota Tundra, and 2001 Toyota Tundra. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Ensure battery is fully charged. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Verify ABS warning light illuminates, then turns OFF after 3 seconds. If ABS warning light does not illuminate, check fuse, bulb, and wiring harness. See ABS WARNING LIGHT under SYSTEM TESTS.
- Turn ignition OFF. Connect a jumper wire between DLC3 terminals Ts and CG. See Figure. Start engine. ABS warning light should flash 4 times per second.
- Drive vehicle at speeds greater than 28 MPH for several seconds. Stop vehicle. Connect a jumper wire between DLC3 terminals Tc and CG.
- If a DTC is stored, ABS warning light will begin to flash a 2-digit DTC. First group of flashes indicate first digit in DTC. After a 1.5-second pause, second group of flashes indicate second digit in a DTC.
- If 2 or more DTCs are stored, there will be a 2.5-second pause between each DTC. After all DTCs are flashed, there will be a 4-second pause, then all DTCs will repeat. If each sensor is normal, a normal code is output (a cycle of 0.25 seconds ON and 0.25 seconds OFF is repeated).
- Record DTCs. Turn ignition off. Repair as necessary. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. See DTC 31, 32, 33 & 34: SPEED SENSOR CIRCUIT under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS for speed sensor diagnostic procedures. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
NOTE:
If ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or LOCK during test mode, DTC will be erased.
