On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL FUNCTION

    1. Remove the V-bank cover.
    2. Set hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    3. Perform the ACTIVE TEST, then check that the actuator rod operates.
    4. Start the engine.
    5. Check that the VSV for ACIS is ON under the condition.
      • Depressing the accelerator pedal to 60 % accelerator opening angle.
      • Racing the engine above 4,700 rpm.
    6. Check that the VSV for ACIS is OFF under the condition.
      • The engine idling.
      • Release the accelerator pedal when the condition of step (e).
  2. INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE 
    1. Remove V-bank cover.
    2. Using a 3-way connector, connect vacuum gauge to the actuator hose.
    3. Start the engine.
    4. While the engine is idling, check that the vacuum gauge needle momentarily fluctuates up to approx. 39.9 kPa (300 mmHg, 11.8 in.Hg). (The actuator rod is pulled out.)
    5. Rapidly depress the accelerator pedal to fully open position and check that the vacuum gauge needle points to 0 kPa (0 mmHg, 0 in.Hg). (The actuator rod is returned.)
    6. Remove the vacuum gauge, and connect the vacuum hose to the actuator.
    7. Reinstall V-bank cover.
