Instrument Panel Safety Pad Sub-ASSY: Replacement

  1. TABLE OF BOLT, SCREW AND NUT 

    HINT:

    Indicate the bolts, screws and nuts, which are necessary for installation and removal of the instrument panel, in the illustration and the test with alphabets.

  2. SHIP MODE SETTING (W/ CD CHANGER) 
  3. SEPARATE BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL 
  4. INSPECT CENTER FRONT WHEEL 
  5. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL COVER LOWER NO. 2 (See  STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM 
  6. REMOVE SWITCH & VOLUME CASE (See  STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR 
  7. REMOVE STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR (See  STEERING PAD SWITCH MODULATOR 
  8. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSY  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  9. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSY (See  STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM  )  (SST 09950-50013 (09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020, 09954-05021)
  10. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSY RH 
    1. Disengage the 4 claws and 5clips.
    2. Remove the door scuff plate assy RH then disconnect the connector.

  11. REMOVE DOOR SCUFF PLATE ASSY LH 
  12. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER RH 
    1. Disengage the 3 claws then remove the front door opening trim cover RH.

  13. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH 
  14. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY NO.1 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and instrument panel safety pad sub-assy No. 1 then disconnect the hood lock control cable and connectors.

  15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY 
    1. Disengage the 4 clips and remove the Instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy then disconnect the connector.

  16. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER LWR  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  17. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER UPR  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  18. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSY  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  19. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and combination meter. Then disconnect the connectors.

  20. REMOVE CONSOLE UPPER PANEL GARNISH REAR 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the console upper panel garnish rear then disconnect the connectors.

  21. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSY UPPER 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage the 6 clips, 4 claws and remove the console panel sub-assy upper then disconnect the connector.

      HINT:

      Set the shift lever into N range and close the receptacle door.

  22. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONER CONTROL ASSY 
    1. Disengage the 6 clips and remove the air conditioner control assy then disconnect the connectors.

  23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY LOWER CENTER  Remove 4 bolts. Disconnect the connector, then remove the radio receiver assy and instrument cluster finish panel sub-assy lower center.
  24. SHIP MODE CONFIRMATION (W/ CD CHANGER) 
  25. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSY (W/O LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Using a screwdriver, lever up the 4 claws on the body from inside of the registers.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 5 clips then remove the instrument panel safety pad garnish sub-assy.

  26. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD GARNISH SUB-ASSY (W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Using a screwdriver, lever up the 2 claws on the body from inside of the register.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the clip then remove the instrument panel safety pad garnish sub-assy.

  27. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL GARNISH SUB-ASSY NO.2 (W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
    1. Using a screwdriver, lever up the 2 claws on the body from inside of the register.

    2. Using a molding remover, disengage the 6 clips then remove the instrument panel garnish sub-assy No. 2.

  28. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSY CENTER (W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM)  See MULTI-DISPLAY (CRT DISPLAY) DISPLAY . Remove 2 bolts and 2 screws. Disconnect connector, then remove multi-display (CRT display) and instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly center and clip.
  29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSY NO. 2 
    1. Disengage the 3 clips, 2 claws and remove the instrument panel under cover sub-assy No. 2 then disconnect the connectors.

  30. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 screws and glove compartment door assy then disconnect the connectors.

  31. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET 
  32. REMOVE BOX PANEL NO. 3 
    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the box panel No. 3.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

  33. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSY 
    1. Remove the 8 bolts, 4 screws.
    2. Disengage the 2 clips then remove the console box assy.

  34. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSY NO. 2 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and tire pressure monitor receiver assy.
    2. Remove the nut, bolt and instrument panel brace sub-assy No. 2.

  35. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSY NO. 1 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and instrument panel brace sub-assy No. 1.

  36. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH RH 
    1. Disengage the claw and 2 clips, then remove the front pillar garnish RH.

  37. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISH LH 
  38. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL RH 
    1. Using a molding remover, disengage 6 claws and remove the instrument side panel RH.

  39. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Turn up the front floor carpet.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
    3. Remove the 3 caps, 9 bolts, steering yoke bolt.
    4. Disengage the 2 claws and remove the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy with instrument panel reinforcement assy and steering column assy.

  40. REMOVE AUTOMATIC LIGHT CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Disconnect the connector.
    2. Remove the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor.
      NOTE: Do not pry the cooler (solar sensor) thermistor off from the upper position.

  41. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 4 
    1. Remove the 3 clips and heater to register duct No. 4.
  42. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSY 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts, 2 bolts and steering column ASSY.

  43. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PLATE 
  44. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL PIN NO. 1 
    1. Remove 3 screws and 3 instrument panel pin No. 1.
  45. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE GARNISH NO.1 
    1. Disengage the 12 claws then remove the defroster nozzle garnish No. 1.
  46. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.1 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and side defroster nozzle duct No. 1.
  47. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT NO.2 
    1. Remove the 3 screws and side defroster nozzle duct No. 2.
  48. REMOVE DEFROSTER NOZZLE FRONT 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and defroster nozzle front.
  49. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 1 
    1. Remove the clip, 2 screws and heater to register duct No. 1.
  50. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 3 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and heater to register duct No. 3.
  51. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT NO. 2 
    1. Remove the 3 screws and heater to register duct No. 2.
  52. SEPARATE PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR  (See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE )
  53. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts, screw and instrument panel reinforcement with wire harness.
  54. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.1 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and instrument panel register assy No. 1.
  55. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REGISTER ASSY NO.2 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and instrument panel register assy No. 2.
  56. REMOVE GROVE COMPARTMENT DOOR LOCK STRIKER PLATE ASSY 
    1. Remove the 4 screws and grove compartment door lock striker plate assy.
  57. REMOVE NAVIGATION ANTENNA ASSY (W/ LEXUS NAVIGATION SYSTEM) 
  58. REMOVE CENTER JUNCTION BLOCK 
  59. REMOVE NETWORK GATEWAY ECU 
  60. REMOVE LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT 
  61. REMOVE METER HOOD RETAINER NO.1 
    1. Remove the screw and meter hood retainer.
  62. REMOVE INSTR PNL PASS DOOR AIR BAG ASSY  (See PASSENGER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE )
  63. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT 
    1. Install the Instrument panel reinforcement, screw with 4 bolt.

      Torque: Bolt G: 20 N.m (200 kgf.cm, 14 ft.lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors.
  64. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSY 
    1. Install the steering column assy, 2 bolts with 4nuts.

      Torque:Bolt: 25 N.m (260 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf) 

      Nut:25 N.m (260 kgf.cm, 19 ft.lbf) 

  65. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSY 
    1. Install the instrument panel safety pad sub-assy with 9 bolts, steering yoke bolt.

  66. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSY NO.2 
    1. Install the instrument panel brace sub-assy No.2, nut with bolt.
  67. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSY N0.1 
    1. Install the instrument panel brace sub-assy No.1, 2 nuts with 2 bolts.
    2. Install the tire pressure monitor receiver assy with 2 bolts.
  68. INSTALL CONSOLE BOX ASSY 
    1. Install the console box assy, 8 bolts, 2 clips with 4 screws.

      HINT:

      When the console panel sub-assy upper is installed, set the shift lever into N range and close the receptacle door.

  69. CENTER SPIRAL CABLE  (See SPIRAL CABLE )
  70. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSY  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  71. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  72. INSPECT HORN BUTTON ASSY  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  73. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSY  (See STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM )
  74. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
