Section 478 (Wheel And Tire System): Inspection

  1. INSPECT TIRE 
    1. Check the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

      Cold tire inflation pressure: 

      COLD TIRE INFLATION PRESSURE SPECIFICATIONS

      Tire size Front kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi) Rear kPa (kgf/cm2 , psi)
      P225/55R17 95H 220 (2.2, 31) 220 (2.2, 31)
      245/45R18 96W 230 (2.3, 33) 230 (2.3, 33)
    2. Using a dial indicator, check the tire runout.

      Tire runout: 1.4 mm (0.055 in.) or less

  2. ROTATE TIRE 

    HINT:

    • Rotate tires as shown in the illustration.
    • Rotate as shown in (A) if the spare tire is included in the rotation.

  3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE 
    1. Check and adjust the Off-the-car balance.
    2. If necessary, check and adjust the On-the-car balance.

      Imbalance after adjustment: 5.0 g (0.011 lb) or less

  4. INSPECT BEARING BACKLASH (SEE PAGE  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  )
