Without Hand-Held Tester

  1. Turn ignition switch off and check that shift lever is at P. Turn steering wheel to straight ahead position.
  2. Using special tool (09843-18040), jumper between terminals Ts and CG of (DLC3). See Figure.
  3. Start engine and verify that VSC warning light flashes. If light does not flash, check VSC warning light circuit and Ts terminal circuit. See SYSTEM TESTING .
  4. If a new ECU is installed, start engine and keep vehicle stationary on a flat surface for 3 seconds or more. This should set zero point calibration of yaw rate sensor.
  5. Turn steering wheel either left or right to full lock position and turn back to straight ahead position. This will check steering angle sensor.
  6. Drive vehicle at approximately 3 MPH. Turn steering wheel either left or right 90° or more and continue until completing a 180° or more turn. Do not spin wheels. Stop vehicle and shift to P. Ensure VSC buzzer sounds for 3 seconds.
  7. If VSC buzzer sounds, sensor check is normal. If buzzer does not sound, check VSC buzzer circuit. See TEST H: VSC BUZZER CIRCUIT  under SYSTEM TESTING.
  8. Do sensor check again.
  9. If buzzer still won't sound, there is a malfunction in VSC sensor. Check DTC. See SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM . If a DTC is retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS .
  10. Disconnect special tool and turn ignition switch off.
