Control System
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Lexus RX 300 and 2002 Lexus RX 300. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Sequential Multiport Fuel Injection (SFI) System
- The SFI system monitors the engine condition through the signals input from each sensor (input signals from 1-10 etc.) to the engine control module. Control signal is output to terminals No. E8-5 (No. 10), E8-6 (No. 20), E9-1 (No. 30), E9-2 (No. 40), E9-3 (No. 50) and E9-4 (No. 60) of the engine control module to operate the injector (inject the fuel). The SFI system controls the fuel injection operation by the engine control module in response to the driving conditions.
Electronic Spark Advance (ESA) System
- The ESA system monitors the engine condition through the signals input to the engine control module from each sensor (input signals from 1-10 etc.). The best ignition timing is decided according to this data and the memorized data in the engine control module and the control signal is output to terminals No. E9-11 (IGT1), E9-12 (IGT2), E9-13 (IGT3), E9-14 (IGT4), E9-15 (IGT5) and E9-16 (IGT6). This signal controls the igniter to provide the best ignition timing for the driving conditions.
Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS)
- The ACIS includes a valve in the bulkhead separating the surge tank into 2 parts. This valve is opened or closed according to the driving conditions to control the intake manifold length in 3 stages, for increased engine output in all ranges from low to high speeds, when idling.
