Circuit Inspection: Speedometer

HINT:

If there is not the LEXUS hand-held tester, begin with STEP  2.

1. Perform active test. 

   PREPARATION: 

   1. Connect the LEXUS hand-held tester to the DLC3.
   2. Turn ignition switch ON and LEXUS hand-held tester main switch ON.
   3. Select the ACTIVE TEST mode on the LEXUS hand-held tester.

   CHECK: 

   Check that the probe moves as LEXUS hand-held tester directs in each range.

   OK: 

   The probe operates normally.

   OK: Proceed to next circuit inspection shown in  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  . 

   NG: Go to next step 

2. Check speedometer (See  INSPECTION  ). 

   NG: Replace speedometer. 

   OK: Go to next step 

3. Check circuit plate (See  INSPECTION  ). 

   NG: Replace circuit plate. 

   OK: Check and replace combination meter (See  CIRCUIT  ).
