Inspection Procedure

  1. READ DATA LIST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and press the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the items below in the DATA LIST and read the displays on the hand-held tester.

    Theft warning ECU:

    OK: "OFF" (smart key cancel switch is not pressed) appears on the screen. 

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

  2. INSPECT SMART KEY CANCEL SWITCH ASSY 
    1. Remove the smart key cancel switch.
    2. Measure the switch resistance.
    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
    1 -2 Switch pushed 10 kΩ or higher
    1 -2 Switch not pushed Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE SMART KEY CANCEL SWITCH ASSY 

    OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SMART KEY CANCEL SWITCH ASSY - THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S45 switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the T5 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    S45-2 - T5-10 (CNSL) Below 1 Ω
    S45-1 - Body ground Below 1 Ω
    S45-2 or T5-10 (CNSL) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE THEFT WARNING ECU ASSY
