Power Mirror Control System (W/ Memory) - Diagnostics: Inspection

  1. INSPECT MIRROR POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Apply voltage to the terminals with a battery and a dry cell battery, as shown in the Fig 1 below.
    2. Measure the voltage while the mirror moves between the fully turned downward position and fully turned upward positions.

      Standard 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

      Measurement Condition (Battery) Measurement Condition (Dry cell battery) Voltmeter Condition Mirror Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 10 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 1 Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 5 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 14 Positive lead (+) --> Terminal 6 Negative lead (-) --> Terminal 14 Turns downward fully 2.8 to 5.0 V
      Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 1 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 10 Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 5 Battery negative (-) Terminal 14 Positive lead (+) --> Terminal 6 Negative lead (-) --> Terminal 14 Turns upward fully 0 to 1.0 V

      If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.

    3. Apply voltage to the terminals with a battery and a dry cell battery, as shown in the Fig 2 below.
    4. Measure the voltage while the mirror moves between the fully turned to the left position and fully turned to the right position.

    STANDARD (RIGHT SIDE MIRROR): 

    VOLTAGE SPECIFICATIONS

    Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 9 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 10 Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 5 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 14 Positive lead (+) --> Terminal R38/R39-13 Negative lead (-) Terminal R38/R39-14 Turns to the left fully 2.8 to 5.0 V
    Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 10 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 9 Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 5 Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 14 Positive lead (+) Terminal R38/R39-13 Negative lead (-) Terminal R38/R39-14 Turns to the right fully 0 to 1.0 V

    If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.

    STANDARD (LEFT SIDE MIRROR):
