Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR DTCS 
    1. Operate the passenger door power window. Check if any DTCs are output.

    RESULT: 

    DTC OUTPUT RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    No DTC is output A
    DTC is output B

    B: Go to  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  

    A: Go to next step 

  2. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester (with CAN VIM) to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch ON and press the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    3. Select the item below in the ACTIVE TEST and then check that the power window operates.

    PASSENGER DOOR ECU: 

    ACTIVE TEST REFERENCE

    Item Tester Detail Diagnostic Note
    P/W UP/DOWN Power Window UP/DOWN -

    OK: "ON" (power window is operating) appears on the screen. 

    NOTE: This test causes vehicle parts to move. Please watch your hands.

    NG: Go to step 3 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY (PASSENGER SIDE) - PASSENGER DOOR ECU) 
    1. Disconnect the P15 motor connector.
    2. Disconnect the F17 ECU connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

    Standard 

    RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

    Tester Connection Specified Condition
    P15-4 (U) - F17-3 (UP) Below 1 Ω
    P15-5 (D) - F17-2 (DN) Below 1 Ω
    P15-4 (U) or F17-3 (UP) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
    P15-5 (D) or F17-2 (DN) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY (PASSENGER SIDE) 
    1. Remove the motor (see OVERHAUL ).
    2. Apply battery voltage to the motor connector according to the table below.
      NOTE: Do not apply battery voltage to any terminals except terminals 4 and 5.
    3. Check that the motor rotates smoothly.

    OK: 

    MOTOR ROTATES CONDITIONS

    Measurement Condition Specified Condition
    Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 4 (U) Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 5 (D) Motor gear rotates clockwise
    Battery positive (+) --> Terminal 5 (D) Battery negative (-) --> Terminal 4 (U) Motor gear rotates counterclockwise

    NG: REPLACE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR MOTOR ASSY (PASSENGER SIDE)

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN ON  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
