Engine Exhaust Assembly: Replacement

  1. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and floor brace.
  2. Bank 1, 2 sensor 2: 

    REMOVE HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 

    1. Remove the 2 sensors.
  3. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT 
    1. Loosen the clamp.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts, 4 nuts, pipe and 2 gaskets.
  4. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY CENTER 
    1. Loosen the 2 clamps.
    2. Remove the pipe.
  5. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY TAIL (LH) 
    1. Remove the pipe from the 3 rings.
  6. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY TAIL (RH) 
    1. Remove the pipe from the 3 rings.
  7. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT 
    1. Install the 2 new gaskets to the pipe.
    2. Install the pipe to the TWC with the 4 bolts and 4 nuts.
      1. Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 
    NOTE:
    • Check if an old gasket still remains on the pipe. If so, remove it.
    • Check if any bolts or nuts are rusted. If so, replace them.
  8. Bank 1, 2 sensor 2: 
    1. INSTALL HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR 
    1. Install the 2 sensors.
      1. Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 32 ft.lbf) 

    HINT:

    • Before installing the sensor, twist the sensor wire counterclockwise 3 and 1/2 turns.
    • After installing the sensor, check that the sensor wire is not twisted. If it is twisted, remove the sensor and reinstall it.
  9. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY CENTER 
    1. Install the pipe.
    2. Tighten the clamp.
      1. Standard dimension (A): 13 to 15 mm (0.51 to 0.59 in.) 
    NOTE: Check if the bolt and/or clamp are rusted. If so, replace them.

  10. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY TAIL (RH) 
    1. Install the pipe with the 3 rings.
    2. Tighten the clamp.
      1. Standard dimension (A): 13 to 15 mm (0.51 to 0.59 in.) 
    NOTE: Check the bolt and clamp for rust. Replace rusted components.

  11. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY TAIL (LH) 
    1. Install the pipe with the 3 rings.
    2. Tighten the clamp.
      1. Standard dimension (A): 13 to 15 mm (0.51 to 0.59 in.) 
    NOTE: Check the bolt and clamp for rust. Replace rusted components.
  12. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR BRACE CENTER 
    1. Install the floor brace with the 4 bolts. 
      1. Torque: 7.4 N.m (75 kgf.cm, 65 in.lbf) 
  13. CHECK FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAKS 

    If gas is leaking, tighten the areas necessary to stop the leak.

    If damaged, replace it.
