Inspection Procedure
Hand-held Tester:
- READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER (VSV FOR AICV)
- Turn the ignition switch ON and the hand-held tester main switch ON.
- Select the item "DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD I I/ACTIVE TEST/INTAKE CTL VSV1" and operate the VSV for AICV.
- Check the operation of the VSV when the VSV is operated by the hand-held tester.
Standard:
VSV FOR AICVTester Operation Specified Condition VSV is ON Air from port E flows out through port F VSV is OFF Air from port E flows out through the air filter
- OK: Go to step 4
- NG: Go to next step.
- CHECK VSV (FOR AICV) (See INSPECTION
)
- NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO.3
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY)
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the I1 VSV for AICV connector.
- Disconnect the E8 ECM connector.
- Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
VSV FOR AICV - ECM (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-2) - AICV (E8-33) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
VSV FOR AICV - ECM (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-2) or AICV (E8-33) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV and the EFI relay.
- Inspect the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- Remove the EFI No. 2 fuse from the fusible link block.
- Check for continuity in the EFI No. 2 fuse.
Standard: Continuity
- Reinstall the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- Disconnect the I1 VSV for AICV connector.
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-1) - EFI relay terminal 3 of R/B Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Reinstall the EFI relay.
- Inspect the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
- INSPECT VACUUM TANK (See INSPECTION
)
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE
- OK: REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT ).
OBDII scan tool (excluding Hand-held Tester):
- CHECK VSV (FOR AICV) (See INSPECTION
)
- NG: REPLACE INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE ASSY NO.3
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT ECM
- Turn the ignition switch ON.
- Measure the voltage between the specified terminals of the E7 and E8 ECM connectors.
Voltage:
ECMTester Connection Specified Condition AICV (E8-33) - E1 (E7-1) 9 to 14 V
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- INSPECT VACUUM TANK (See INSPECTION
)
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK AND REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (VSV FOR AICV - ECM, VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY)
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
- Disconnect the I1 VSV for AICV connector.
- Disconnect the E8 ECM connector.
- Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
VSV FOR AICV - ECM (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-2) - AICV (E8-33) Below 1 Ω Standard (Check for short):
VSV FOR AICV - ECM (CHECK FOR SHORT)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-2) or AICV (E8-33) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher - Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Reconnect the ECM connector.
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV and the EFI relay.
- Inspect the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- Remove the EFI No. 2 fuse from the fusible link block.
- Check for continuity in the EFI No. 2 fuse.
Standard: Continuity
- Reinstall the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- Disconnect the I1 VSV for AICV connector.
- Remove the EFI relay from the engine room R/B.
- Check the resistance between the wire harness side connectors.
Standard (Check for open):
VSV FOR AICV - EFI RELAY (CHECK FOR OPEN)Tester Connection Specified Condition VSV for AICV (I1-1)-EFI relay terminal 3 of R/B Below 1 Ω - Reconnect the VSV for AICV connector.
- Reinstall the EFI relay.
- Inspect the EFI No. 2 fuse.
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
- OK: REPLACE ECM (See REPLACEMENT ).
- Check the wire harness between the VSV for AICV connector and the ECM connector.
