Power Mirror Control System - Diagnostics: Inspection
- INSPECT OUTER MIRROR SWITCH ASSY
- Select L or R on the mirror master switch.
- Measure the resistance of the mirror master switch.
Standard:
MIRROR MASTER SWITCHTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 8 (MSW) - 9 (E) L 100 ohms 8 (MSW) - 9 (E) R Below 1 ohms 8 (MSW) - 9 (E) OFF 10 k ohms or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assy.
- Measure the resistance of the mirror control switch.
Standard:
MIRROR CONTROL SWITCHTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 7 (M+) - 9 (E) UP Approx. 100 ohms 7 (M+) - 9 (E) RIGHT 250 ohms 7 (M+) - 9 (E) DOWN 470 ohms 7 (M+) - 9 (E) LEFT 800 ohms 7 (M+) - 9 (E) OFF 10 k ohms or higher If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assy.
- Measure the resistance of the retract switch.
Standard:
RETRACT SWITCHTester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition 4 - 5 Retract 10 k ohms or higher 4 - 5 Return Below 1 ohms If the result is not as specified, replace the switch assy.
- Driver side:
INSPECT SEAT MEMORY SWITCH
- INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH
- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.
OK:
OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LHMeasurement Condition Specified Condition Battery positive (+) -> Terminal 1
Battery negative (-) -> Terminal 10Turns upward (A) Battery positive (+) -> Terminal 10
Battery negative (-) -> Terminal 1Turns downward (B) Battery positive (+) -> Terminal 9

- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the retractable mirror.*
HINT:
*: w/ Retractable mirror
NOTE:- Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
- The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

- Inspect the mirror position sensor.
- Apply battery and dry cell battery voltage to the terminals as shown in MIRROR POSITION SENSOR .
- Measure the voltage while the mirror moves between the fully downward and fully upward positions.

- Measure the voltage while the mirror moves between fully turned to the left and fully turned to the right.

- Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 12 of the connector.
Standard: 3.57 to 4.83 Ω at 25°C (75°F)
- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of mirror heater.
OK:

Battery negative (-) -> Terminal 12Mirror becomes warn
HINT:
It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.
If the result is not as specified, replace the mirror assy.
- Measure the resistance between terminals 4 and 12 of the connector.
- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.
- INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY RH
- Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror.
