Inspection Procedure
- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (COMPASS DISPLAY)
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that all segments of the compass are displayed.
Combination meter assy:
COMPASS DISPLAYItem Test Details Diagnostic Note COMPASS DISP All segments of compass display ON/OFF Confirm that vehicle is stopped and engine is idling OK: All segments of compass are displayed.
- NG: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
- OK: Go to next step.
- Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that all segments of the compass are displayed.
- CALIBRATE COMPASS
- Perform calibration (See CALIBRATION ).
- NG: Go to step 3
- OK: NORMAL
- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR - COMBINATION METER ASSY)
- Disconnect the M6 sensor connector.
- Disconnect the C9 meter connector.
- Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard:
MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR - COMBINATION METER ASSYTester Connection Specified Condition M3-2 (C-GND) - C9-2 (E) Below 1 ohms M3-5 (VX) - C9-5 (MSSR) Below 1 ohms M3-3 (VY) - C9-3 (YSSR) Below 1 ohms M3-4 (VMZD) - C9-4 (COMN) Below 1 ohms M3-1 (D-SIGNAL) - C9-1 (+F) Below 1 ohms
- NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- OK: Go to next step.
- CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
- Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new or normally functioning one.
- Check that the malfunction disappears.
OK: Malfunction disappears.
- NG: REPLACE MAGNETIC FIELD SENSOR
- OK: REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSY (See COMBINATION METER ASSY )
