Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the hand-held tester. Freeze frame data records the engine conditions when a malfunction is detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was running or stopped, if the engine was warmed up or not, if the air-fuel ratio was LEAN or RICH, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.

1. CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT 
   1. Connect the hand-held tester to DLC3.
   2. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS / ENHANCED OBD II / DTC INFO / CURRENT CODES.
   3. Read the CURRENT CODES.

      Result:

      P2121	A
      P2121 and other DTCs	B

   1. B: Go to RELEVANT DTC TABLE (See  DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE   ) 
   2. A: Go to next step. 
2. REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ROD ASSY 
   1. NEXT: Go to next step. 
3. READ OUTPUT DTC (ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR DTCS ARE OUTPUT AGAIN) 
   1. Clear the DTC (see DTC CHECK/CLEAR  ).
   2. Start the engine and allow the engine to idle for 15 seconds or more.
   3. Read the DTC.

      Result: 

      RESULT DESCRIPTION

      P2121 is output again	A
      No DTC output	B

   1. B: See  CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS   ) 
   2. A: REPLACE ECM (See  REPLACEMENT  )
