Seat Belt Tension Reducer System: Inspection

  1. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the buckle switch.

      Standard: 

      FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY LH

      Tester Condition Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 3 Seat belt is fastened Below 1 ohms
      1 - 3 Seat belt is unfastened 1 M ohms or higher

      If the result is not as specified, replace the inner belt assy.

    2. Check the front seat inner belt illumination (see BUCKLE ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT ).

  2. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH 
    1. Measure the resistance of the buckle switch.

      Standard: 

      FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSY RH

      Tester Condition Condition Specified Condition
      2 - 5 Seat belt is fastened 320 to 340 ohms
      2 - 5 Seat belt is unfastened 1,300 to 1,360 ohms

      If the result is not as specified, replace the inner belt assy.

    2. Check the front seat inner belt illumination (see BUCKLE ILLUMINATION CIRCUIT ).

  3. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY LH 
    NOTE: Do not apply battery voltage to the pretensioner connector.
    1. Check tension reducer operation.
      1. Connect the battery's positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector A and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2.
      2. Check that an operating noise is heard when the magnetized solenoid is attracting the plunger.
      3. Pull out the seat belt and let it rewind. Listen to the operating sound.
      4. Pull out the seat belt again, disconnect the battery's negative (-) lead and let it rewind. Listen to the operating sound again and check that the operating sound volume has increased.

        If the result is not as specified, replace the outer belt assy.

  4. INSPECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSY RH 
    NOTE: Do not apply battery voltage to the pretensioner connector.
    1. Check tension reducer operation.
