Electronic Controlled Automatic Transmission (ECT) - Diagnostics: Initialization

  1. RESET MEMORY 
    CAUTION: Perform the A/T initialization RESET MEMORY procedures when replacing the automatic transmission, engine or ECM.
    NOTE: The initialization can only be performed with the hand-held tester.

    HINT:

    The ECM memorizes the vehicle condition when the ECT controls the automatic transmission and engine. When the automatic transmission, engine or ECM has been replaced, it is necessary to reset the memory so that the ECM can memorize the new conditions. The reset procedures are as follows.

    1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
    2. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the ignition switch ON and push the hand-held tester main switch ON.
    4. Enter the following menus: DIAGNOSIS/ENHANCED OBD II.
    5. Perform the RESET MEMORY procedures from the main menu.
    NOTE: After performing the RESET MEMORY procedure, be sure to perform the ROAD TEST  .

    HINT:

    The ECM use the ROAD TEST to collect data about the vehicle.
