Camshaft Position Sensor: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT ( ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ) 
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (  2  ) 
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (  4  ) 
  5. REMOVE V-BANK COVER 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover.
  6. REMOVE RADIATOR HOSE INLET 
  7. REMOVE NO. 3 TIMING BELT COVER SUBASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the cap nut and disconnect the No. 3 water bypass pipe from the timing belt cover.
    2. Disconnect the 2 water bypass hoses from the No. 3 water bypass pipe.

    3. Disconnect the engine wire from the 2 wire clamps.
    4. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
    5. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor wire from the wire clamp on the timing belt cover.
    6. Remove the wire grommet from the timing belt cover.
    7. Remove the 4 bolts.
    8. Disconnect the timing belt cover from the timing plate and camshaft bearing cap.

    9. Disconnect the wire clamp for the sensor from the timing belt cover.
    10. Remove the connector holder from the sensor connector.
    11. Remove the timing belt cover.
  8. REMOVE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR 
    1. Remove the bolt, stud bolt and sensor.
