Knock Sensor, Intake Manifold (2UZ-FE): Replacement
- PREVENT GASOLINE FROM SPILLING OUT (SEE FUEL SYSTEM (2UZ-FE) )
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (SEE COOLANT (2UZ-FE) )
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY
- Remove the 2 nuts and V-bank cover sub-assy.
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE ASSY
- Disconnect the vacuum hoses (for the power steering idle-up and fuel pressure regulator) and ventilation hose.
- Remove the air cleaner hose assy.
- DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- DISCONNECT FUEL HOSE NO. 2 (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- DISCONNECT CONNECTORS FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Disconnect the throttle control connector.
- Disconnect the VSV connector for EVAP.
- Disconnect the 8 injector connectors.
- Disconnect the ECT sensor connector.
- Disconnect the 2 VSV connectors for the air injection system.
- Disconnect the 8 ignition coil connectors.
- Disconnect the 2 air fuel ratio sensor connectors.
- DISCONNECT HOSES FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Disconnect the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.
- Disconnect the PCV hose from the PCV valve on the LH cylinder head.
- Disconnect the EVAP hose (from the charcoal canister) from the VSV for the EVAP.
- Disconnect the 2 vacuum hoses from the VSV for the air injection system.
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSY
- Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.
- Disconnect the 2 wire clamps from the wire clamp bracket on the RH delivery pipe.
- Remove the bolt and nut holding the engine wire protector from the intake manifold and cylinder head.
- Remove the 2 bolts and ground cables from the RH and LH cylinder heads.
- Remove the bolt and V-bank cover bracket from the intake manifold.
- Disconnect the engine wire from the engine hanger and wire bracket.
- Remove the bolt and wire bracket from the intake manifold.
- Remove the 6 bolts, 4 nuts, intake manifold assy and 2 gaskets.
- REMOVE AIR PUMP ASSY W/ BRACKET (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE KNOCK SENSOR
- Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
- Remove the 2 nuts and 2 knock sensors.
- INSTALL KNOCK SENSOR
- Install the 2 knock sensors with the 2 nuts as shown in Fig 8.
20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf)
- Connect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
- Install the 2 knock sensors with the 2 nuts as shown in Fig 8.
- INSTALL AIR PUMP ASSY W/ BRACKET (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD ASSY
- Place 2 new gaskets on the intake manifold.
- Place the intake manifold on the cylinder heads.
- Install and uniformly tighten the 6 bolts and 4 nuts in several steps.
18 N.m (185 kgf.cm, 13 ft.lbf)
- Install the V-bank cover bracket to the intake manifold.
7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
- Install the wire bracket to the intake manifold with the bolt.
7.5 N.m (76 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
- Connect the engine wire to the engine hanger and wire bracket.
- Connect the wire protector to the intake manifold and cylinder heads with the bolt and nut.
- Install the 2 ground cables with the 2 bolts to the RH and LH cylinder heads.
- Connect the 2 water by-pass hoses to the throttle body.
- Connect the 2 wire clamps to the wire clamp bracket on the RH delivery pipe.
- CONNECT HOSES FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Connect the vacuum hose to the fuel pressure regulator.
- Connect the PCV hose to the PCV valve on the LH cylinder head.
- Connect the EVAP hose (from the charcoal canister) to the VSV for EVAP.
- Connect the 2 vacuum hoses to the VSV for the air injection system.
- CONNECT CONNECTORS FROM INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Connect the throttle control connector.
- Connect the 2 VSV connectors for the air injection system.
- Connect the VSV connector for the EVAP.
- Connect the 8 injector connectors.
- Connect the ECT sensor connector.
- Connect the 8 ignition coil connectors.
- Connect the 2 air fuel ratio sensor connectors.
- INSTALL FUEL HOSE NO. 2 (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- INSTALL FUEL HOSE (SEE REPLACEMENT )
- INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSY
Torque: 7.5 N.m (80 kgf.cm, 66 in.lbf)
- ADD ENGINE COOLANT (SEE COOLANT (2UZ-FE) )
- CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (SEE COOLING SYSTEM (2UZ-FE) )
- CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKS (SEE ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
