Front Axle Hub: Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for 2WD) 
    1. Disconnect the speed sensor connector from the front speed sensor.
    NOTE: Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.

  3. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR (for 4WD) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and separate the speed sensor from the steering knuckle.
    NOTE:
    • Be careful not to damage the speed sensor.
    • Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the speed sensor.

  4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the brake caliper assembly. (for 2GR-FSE)
      NOTE: Use wire or equivalent to prevent the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
    2. Remove the No. 1 caliper plates from the brake caliper. (for 4GR-FSE)
    NOTE: Use wire or equivalent to prevent the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.

  5. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts, and disconnect the brake caliper assembly.
      NOTE: Use wire or equivalent to prevent the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.
    2. Remove the No. 1 caliper plates from the brake caliper.

  6. REMOVE FRONT DISC (See Step 5 in  DISASSEMBLY  ) 
  7. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT (for 4WD) 
    1. Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the front axle hub nut.

      SST 09930-00010 

      NOTE: Release the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the screw of the drive shaft may be damaged.
    2. Remove the front axle hub nut.

  8. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover.

  9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 4WD) 
    1. Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly from the front axle hub.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the drive shaft boot.
    2. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover.
