Front Power Seat Control System - Diagnostics: Inspection

  1. Passenger's seat: 
    1. INSPECT POWER SEAT SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when each switch is operated.

    Standard: 

    Slide switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (B) - 12 (SLDF) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 10 (SLDR) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 12 (SLDF) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 10 (SLDR) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 12 (SLDF) REAR Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 10 (SLDR) REAR Below 1 Ω

    Front vertical switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (B) - 7 (FUP) UP Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 14 (FDWN) UP Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 7 (FUP) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 14 (FDWN) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 7 (FUP) DOWN Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 14 (FDWN) DOWN Below 1 Ω

    Lifter switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (B) - 4 (LUP) UP Below 1 Ω
    3 (LDWN) - 6 (E) UP Below 1 Ω
    4 (LUP) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1 Ω
    3 (LDWN) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1 Ω
    4 (LUP) - 6 (E) DOWN Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 3 (LDWN) DOWN Below 1 Ω

    Reclining switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    1 (B) - 13 (RCLF) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 11 (RCLR) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 13 (RCLF) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 11 (RCLR) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 13 (RCLF) REAR Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 11 (RCLR) REAR Below 1 Ω

    Headrest switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (B) - 8 (HUP) UP Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 9 (HDWN) UP Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 8 (HUP) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 9 (HDWN) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (E) - 8 (HUP) DOWN Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 9 (HDWN) DOWN Below 1 Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  2. INSPECT DRIVING POSITION MEMORY SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when the switch is operated.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    2 (MMR) -6 (E) SET switch ON Below 1 Ω
    3 (1) -6 (E) 1 switch ON Below 1 Ω
    4 (2) - 6 (E) 2 switch ON Below 1 Ω
    5 (3) - 6 (E) 3 switch ON Below 1 Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  3. Driver's seat: 
    1. INSPECT LUMBAR SUPPORT SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when the switch is operated.

    Standard: 

    Upper side control 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (H) - 5 (B) HOLD Below 1Ω
    4 (R) - 6 (E) HOLD Below 1Ω
    1 (H) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1Ω
    4 (R) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1Ω
    1 (H) - 6 (E) RELEASE Below 1Ω
    4 (R) - 5 (B) RELEASE Below 1Ω

    Lower side control 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    2 (H1) - 5 (B) Hold Below 1Ω
    3 (R1) - 6 (E) Hold Below 1Ω
    2 (H1) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1Ω
    3 (R1) - 6 (E) OFF Below 1Ω
    2 (H1) - 6 (E) RELEASE Below 1Ω
    3 (R1) - 5 (B) RELEASE Below 1Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  4. Passenger's seat: 
    1. INSPECT LUMBAR SUPPORT SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when the switch is operated.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (B) - 4 (H) HOLD Below 1 Ω
    2 (E) - 3 (R) HOLD Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 3 (R) OFF Below 1 Ω
    2 (E) - 3 (R) OFF Below 1 Ω
    1 (B) - 3 (R) RELEASE Below 1 Ω
    2 (E) - 4 (H) RELEASE Below 1 Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  5. Driver's seat: 
    1. INSPECT POWER SEAT CUSHION SWITCH 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when the switch is operated.
    2. Remove the power seat cushion switch.
    3. Measure the resistance of the switch.

    Standard: 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    1 (CSNF) - 4 (E) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    1 (CSNF) - 4 (E), 2 (CSNR) -4 (E) OFF 10 kΩ higher
    2 (CSNR) - 4 (E) REAR Below 1 Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  6. Passenger's seat: 
    1. INSPECT POWER SEAT SWITCH SUB 
    1. Measure the resistance between the terminals when the switch is operated.

    Standard: 

    Reclining switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    5 (MRF) - 10 (B) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    6 (MRR) - 10 (B) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    5 (MRF) - 7 (RCLF) OFF Below 1 Ω
    2 (RCLR) - 6 (MRR) OFF Below 1 Ω
    6 (MRR) - 10 (B) REAR Below 1 Ω
    5 (MRF) - 7 (RCLF) REAR Below 1 Ω

    Slide switch 

    TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    4 (MSF) - 10 (B) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    3 (SLDR) - 9 (MSR) FRONT Below 1 Ω
    4 (MSF) - 8 (SLDF) OFF Below 1 Ω
    3 (SLDR) - 9 (MSR) OFF Below 1 Ω
    9 (MSR) - 10 (B) REAR Below 1 Ω
    4 (MSF) - 8 (SLDF) REAR Below 1 Ω

    If the result is not as specified, replace the switch.

  7. INSPECT POWER SEAT MOTOR 
    1. Check operation of the slide motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the slide motor connector terminals.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Clockwise

      If the result is not as specified, replace the slide motor.

    2. Check operation of the vertical motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the vertical motor connector terminals.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Clockwise

      If the result is not as specified, replace the vertical motor.

    3. Check operation of the lifter motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the lifter motor connector terminals.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Clockwise

      If the result is not as specified, replace the lifter motor.

    4. Check operation of the reclining motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the reclining motor connector terminals.

      OK: 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Counterclockwise
      Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Clockwise

      If the result is not as specified, replace the reclining motor.

    5. Check operation of the cushion slide motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the cushion slide motor connector terminals.

    OK: 

    MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Measurement Condition Specified Condition
    Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Counterclockwise
    Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Clockwise

    If the result is not as specified, replace the cushion slide motor.

  8. INSPECT POWER SEAT MOTOR (LUMBAR SUPPORT) 
    1. Check operation of the lumbar support adjuster motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the lumbar support adjuster motor connector terminals.

    OK: 

    MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Measurement Condition Specified Condition
    Battery positive (+) --> 1 Battery negative (-) --> 2 Clockwise
    Battery positive (+) --> 2 Battery negative (-) --> 1 Counterclockwise

    If the result is not as specified, replace the adjuster motor.

  9. INSPECT POWER SEAT MOTOR (HEADREST) 
    1. Check operation of the headrest motor.
      1. Check if the motor rotates smoothly when the battery is connected to the headrest motor connector terminals.

    OK: 

    MEASUREMENT CONDITION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION

    Measurement Condition Specified Condition
    Battery positive (+) --> 5 (DOWN) Battery negative (-) --> 1 (UP) Clockwise
    Battery positive (+) --> 1 (UP) Battery negative (-) --> 5 (DOWN) Counterclockwise

    If the result is not as specified, replace the headrest motor.
