Cooling Fan: Thermostat: Replacement

  1. REMOVE AIR CLEANER INLET NO.1 (See  REPLACEMENT  ) 
  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (See  REPLACEMENT   ) 
  3. REMOVE THERMOSTAT 
    1. Remove the 3 nuts and disconnect the water inlet from the water inlet housing.
    2. Remove the thermostat.
    3. Remove the gasket from the thermostat.

  4. INSTALL THERMOSTAT 
    1. Install a new gasket to the thermostat.
    2. Insert the thermostat into the water inlet housing with the jiggle valve facing straight upward.

      HINT:

      The jiggle valve may be set within 30° of either side of the prescribed position.

    3. Install the water inlet with the 3 nuts.
      1. Torque: 19 N m (195 kgf cm, 14 ft lbf)

  5. REFILL ENGINE COOLANT (See  REPLACEMENT   ) 
  6. CHECK FOR ENGINE COOLANT LEAKS (See  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION   ) 
  7. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET NO.1 (See  REPLACEMENT  )
