Intake Air Control System (1GR-FE): Inspection

  1. INSPECT INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK 
    1. Inspect the diaphragm.
      1. Check that the lever moves when vacuum of 26.6 kPa (200 mmHg) is applied with the mighty bag on.
      2. Check that the vacuum of 26.6 kPa (200 mmHg) is sustained for 1 minute in the above state.

  2. INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSY NO.1 
    1. Inspect the VSV for open circuit.
      1. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between each terminals.

        Resistance: 33 - 39 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

    2. Inspect the VSV for ground.
      1. Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.

    3. Inspect the VSV operation.
      1. Check that air flows from port E to the filter.

      2. Apply battery positive voltage across the terminals.
      3. Check that air flows from port E to port F.
