Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST (MIRROR RETRACT FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the ACTIVE TEST, use the hand-held tester to generate a control command, and then check that the mirror retract function.

      Multiplex network door ECU front LH, RH (driver, passenger door ECU): 

      MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH, RH (DRIVER, PASSENGER DOOR ECU)

    1. B: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH (DRIVER DOOR ECU) 
    2. C: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT RH (PASSENGER DOOR ECU) 
    3. A: Go to next step. 
  2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH OR RH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the D19 or P11 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance and voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard: 

      Multiplex network door ECU front LH (driver door ECU) 

      MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH (DRIVER DOOR ECU)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      D19-6 (BDR) - D19-1 (GND) 10 to 14 V
      D19-1 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 ohms

      Multiplex network door ECU front RH (passenger door ECU) 

      MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT RH (PASSENGER DOOR ECU)

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      P11-6 (BDR) - P11-1 (GND) 10 to 14 V
      P11-1 (GND) - Body ground Below 1 ohms

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: Go to next step. 
  3. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH OR RH (RETRACTABLE MIRROR MOTOR) 
    1. Disconnect the R14 or R15 mirror connector.
    2. Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the retractable mirror.
      NOTE:
      • Disconnect and reconnect the battery once between each mirror position check.
      • The mirror position cannot be changed manually when the battery is connected. To change the mirror position manually, the battery must be disconnected first.

      OK: 

      OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH OR RH (RETRACTABLE MIRROR MOTOR)

      Measurement Condition Mirror Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) -> Terminal 3
      Battery negative (-) -> Terminal 11
      Retracted position Moves from retracted position to driving position
      Battery positive (+) -> Terminal 11
      Battery negative (-) -> Terminal 3

      Result:

      Passenger side is as specified B
      Driver side is not as specified C
      Passenger side is not as specified D
    1. B: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT RH (PASSENGER DOOR ECU) 
    2. C: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY LH 
    3. D: REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSY RH 
    4. A: REPLACE MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU FRONT LH (DRIVER DOOR ECU)
