System Outline

  1. Line Pressure Optimal Control

Through the use of the solenoid valve SLT, the line pressure is optimally controlled in accordance with the engine torque information, as well as with the internal operating conditions of the torque converter and the transaxle. Accordingly, the line pressure can be precisely controlled in accordance with the engine output, traveling conditions, and the ATF temperature, thus allowing smoother shift characteristics and optimizing the workload in the oil pump.

  2. Clutch-to-Clutch Transmission Control

The fluid pressure of the clutch and brake are controlled independently using the control valve in accordance with the pressure output from the linear solenoid valves, SL1, SL2, SL3 and SL4, which are controlled based on drive signals from the transmission control ECU.

By fully utilizing the fluid pressure circuit and the compact, large flow volume linear solenoid, the optimum fluid pressures and timing for the clutch and brake can be controlled independently, based on the input/output shaft rotation speed, engine torque, etc. As a result, the transmission allows not only single gearshifts, but also multiple gearshifts, smoothly and with improved response.

  3. Multi Mode Automatic Transmission

The multi mode automatic transmission has and [S]-position beside the [D]-position. By moving the selector lever to the "S" side, you can select the shift range by hand, just like with a manual transmission.
