Park / Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to the N position.
    2. Align the protrusions of the park/neutral position switch.

    3. Install the park/neutral position switch to the control shaft with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • Before installing the park/neutral position switch, remove any dirt or rust on the installation portion of the control shaft. Be sure to install the switch straight along the shaft while being careful not to deform the plate spring that supports the shaft. If the plate spring is deformed, the park/neutral switch cannot be reinstalled correctly.
      • After installing the park/neutral position switch, confirm that the 2 protrusions on the switch are aligned.

    4. Install the control shaft lever to the control shaft with the nut and washer.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

    5. Connect the connector to the park/neutral position switch.

    6. Connect the transmission control cable to the transmission control cable bracket with a new clip.

    7. Connect the transmission control cable to the control shaft lever with the nut.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL AIR CLEANER BRACKET 
    1. Install the air cleaner bracket with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 7.8 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf)

    2. Install the wire harness clamp.
  3. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  4. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  5. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY 
  6. INSTALL AIR CLEANER INLET ASSEMBLY 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  7. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  8. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  9. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 

    (Refer to appropriate step under INSTALLATION ).

  10. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY OPERATION (See  REMOVAL   ) 
  11. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT   ) 
  12. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See  ADJUSTMENT   ) 
  13. PERFORM INITIALIZATION 
    1. Perform initialization procedure (See INITIALIZATION ).
      NOTE: Some systems need initialization after reconnecting the cable to the negative battery terminal.
