On-Vehicle Inspection

  1. CHECK THROTTLE BODY 
    1. Check the throttle control motor operating sounds.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Control the ETCS Open Slow Speed, Control the ETCS Close Slow Speed, Control the ETCS Open Fast Speed and Control the ETCS Close Fast Speed.
      5. Check the operating sound of the running motor. Make sure that no friction noises emit from the motor.

        If a friction noise exists, replace the throttle body.

    2. Check the throttle position sensor.
      1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
      3. Turn the Techstream on.
      4. Select the following menu items: Powertrain/Engine and ECT/Active Test/Control the ETCS Open Slow Speed, Control the ETCS Close Slow Speed, Control the ETCS Open Fast Speed and Control the ETCS Close Fast Speed.

        Specified Condition 

        THROTTLE POSITION

        Tester Display Specified Condition
        Throttle position Value varies according to Active Test
        Throttle Sensor position
        Throttle Sensor position #2

        If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body.
