Engine Control System (1UR-FSE) - Circuit Tests And Repair Information: ECM: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag working.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM ECU COVER 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and engine room ECU cover.
      NOTE:
      • Wipe off any water on or around the engine room ECU cover.
      • Perform this step in a dry place away from rain, etc.
      • Do not allow water to enter the ECM through its connectors, screws, etc.
  6. DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS 
    1. Detach the claw and disconnect the No. 4 connector holder.

    2. Disconnect the 6 ECM connectors.

  7. REMOVE ECM 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and ECM.
