Automatic Transmission Assembly: Removal
- FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
- REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
- REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
- REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE V-RIBBED BELT (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR (w/o Active Stabilizer System)
- Remove the front stabilizer bar (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Stabilizer System)
- Remove the front active stabilizer control actuator assembly (See REMOVAL ).
- REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1) (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY (See DISASSEMBLY )
- REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See INSTALLATION )
- REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
- Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
- Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
- REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the nut and disconnect the gear shifting rod.
- DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.
- Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler tube sub-assembly.
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
- Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.
- REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
- Remove the flywheel housing side cover.
- REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT
- Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.
- While holding the crankshaft pulley nut with a wrench, remove the 6 bolts.
- SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
- Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack.
- REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER
- Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the mounting member.
- Remove the 4 nuts and mounting member.
- DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
- Tilt the automatic transmission downward.NOTE: Take care not to allow the rear side of the engine assembly to come into contact with the body.
- Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.
- Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness clamp.
- Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
HINT:
Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.
- Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the wire harness clamp.
- Tilt the automatic transmission downward.
- REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 10 bolts.
- Separate and remove the automatic transmission.
- REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE REAR MOUNTING INSULATOR
- Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator.
- REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH
- Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever with gear shifting rod.
- REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
- Put matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch.
- Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transmission.
