DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).

REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER
REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER
REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
REMOVE REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
REMOVE NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )

REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR (w/o Active Stabilizer System)
1. Remove the front stabilizer bar (See REMOVAL ).
REMOVE FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Stabilizer System)
1. Remove the front active stabilizer control actuator assembly (See REMOVAL ).
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE (See REMOVAL )
DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
DISCONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY (See DISASSEMBLY )
REMOVE ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 1) (See REMOVAL )
DISCONNECT COMPRESSOR AND PULLEY (See DISASSEMBLY )
REMOVE NO. 2 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH (See INSTALLATION )
REMOVE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2) (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID
1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.
2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug.
  Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)
REMOVE NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR (See REMOVAL )
REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
DISCONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the nut and disconnect the gear shifting rod.

DISCONNECT OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.

2. Remove the bolt and disconnect the bracket.
3. Remove the 2 clips and disconnect the oil cooler tube sub-assembly.

DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS
1. Remove the bolt and disconnect the ground wire.

REMOVE FLYWHEEL HOUSING SIDE COVER
1. Remove the flywheel housing side cover.
REMOVE DRIVE PLATE AND TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT
1. Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.

2. While holding the crankshaft pulley nut with a wrench, remove the 6 bolts.

SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY
1. Support the automatic transmission with a transmission jack.

REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER
1. Remove the 4 bolts and disconnect the mounting member.

2. Remove the 4 nuts and mounting member.

DISCONNECT WIRE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
1. Tilt the automatic transmission downward.
  NOTE: Take care not to allow the rear side of the engine assembly to come into contact with the body.

2. Disconnect the park/neutral position switch connector.

3. Remove the nut and disconnect the wire harness clamp.

4. Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
  HINT:
  
  Detach the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector.

5. Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the wire harness clamp.

1. Remove the 10 bolts.
2. Separate and remove the automatic transmission.

REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE REAR MOUNTING INSULATOR
1. Remove the 4 bolts and engine mounting insulator.

REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER RH
1. Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever with gear shifting rod.

REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
1. Put matchmarks on the transmission case and torque converter clutch.
2. Remove the torque converter clutch from the automatic transmission.
