Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOWN SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the kick-down switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A53-1 - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK : Go to next step 

  2. INSPECT KICK DOWN SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when kick-down switch is ON and OFF.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Press continuously (Kick-down switch is ON) Below 1 Ω
      Release (Kick-down switch Is OFF) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG : REPLACE KICK DOWN SWITCH ASSEMBLY

    OK : Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (KICK DOWN SWITCH - ECM) 
    1. Connect the kick-down switch connector.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Measure resistance according to the value(s) in the table below when accelerator pedal is fully depressed or not.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A6 - 14 (KD) - Body ground Fully depressed (Kick-down switch is ON) Below 1 Ω
      Release (Kick-down switch is OFF) 10 kΩ or higher

    NG : REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK : PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  (See PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  )
