Park/Neutral Position Switch: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the switch to the manual valve shaft.
    2. Temporarily install the bolt.

    3. Install a new lock washer with the nut.

      Torque: 6.9 N*m (70 kgf*cm, 61 in.*lbf)

    4. Temporarily install the control shaft lever with shifting rod.

    5. Turn the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops, and then turn it clockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.
    6. Remove the control shaft lever with shifting rod.

    7. Align the groove with the neutral basic line.
    8. Hold the switch in this position and tighten the bolt.

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

    9. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.

      HINT:

      Bend at least 2 washer tabs.

    10. Install the transmission control shaft lever with the spring washer and nut.

      Torque: 16 N*m (160 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)

    11. Connect the switch connector.

  2. INSTALL REAR ENGINE MOUNTING MEMBER 
    1. Install the rear engine mounting member with the 4 bolts.

      Torque: 26 N*m (265 kgf*cm, 19 ft.*lbf)

  3. CONNECT FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Temporarily connect the shifting rod to the connecting rod swivel with the nut.

      HINT:

      The nut will be tightened to the specified torque during the shift lever position adjustment procedure.

  4. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION 
    1. Adjust the shift lever position (see ADJUSTMENT  ).

  5. INSTALL REAR PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  6. FULLY TIGHTEN NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  7. INSPECT AND ADJUST NO. 2 AND NO. 3 JOINT ANGLE  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL AIR GUIDE PLATE OUTSIDE RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR NO. 1 HEAT INSULATOR  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  11. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 2 Sensor 2)  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. CONNECT HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (for Bank 1 Sensor 2)  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER RH  (See INSTALLATION )
  15. INSTALL FRONT CENTER FLOOR BRACE  (See INSTALLATION )
  16. INSTALL REAR NO. 1 FLOOR PANEL BRACE  (See INSTALLATION )
  17. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  18. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY 
    1. Inspect the switch (see ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION  ).
  19. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
