Back Window Glass: Removal

HINT:

The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.

1. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD 
   1. Remove the back door garnish center.
   2. Remove the back door side garnish LH
   3. Remove the back door side garnish RH.
   4. Remove the tool box panel sub-assembly upper.
   5. Remove the tool set.
   6. Remove the assist grip assembly.
   7. Remove the back door trim board.
   8. Remove the service hole cover.
2. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM ASSEMBLY 
   1. Remove the wiper arm head cap.
   2. Remove the rear wiper arm assembly.
3. REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY 
   1. Remove the wiper motor assembly.
4. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ASSEMBLY 
   1. Apply protective tape to the installation position of the back window glass assembly on the vehicle body.

      HINT:

      Apply protective tape to the installation surface to prevent it from being scratched.

   2. Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior.
   3. Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
   4. Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass
      NOTE:

      • When separating the back window glass, take care not to damage the paint or the interior and exterior ornaments.
      • To prevent the package tray trim panel from being scratched when removing the back window glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and package tray trim panel.

   5. Using a suction cup, remove the back window glass assembly.
   NOTE:

   • Be careful not to drop the back window glass.
   • Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass.
5. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS 
   1. Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.
      NOTE: Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
   2. Clean the outer circumference of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.
   NOTE:

   • Do not touch the back window glass surface after cleaning it.
   • Even if using a new back window glass, clean the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.

6. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY 
   1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body
      1. Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body to ensure the appropriate surface shape
         NOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

         HINT.

         Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner

         HINT.

         Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
