Back Window Glass: Removal
HINT:
The installation is in the reverse order of the removal. However, when there is a special point concerning the installation, it is indicated.
- REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD
- Remove the back door garnish center.
- Remove the back door side garnish LH
- Remove the back door side garnish RH.
- Remove the tool box panel sub-assembly upper.
- Remove the tool set.
- Remove the assist grip assembly.
- Remove the back door trim board.
- Remove the service hole cover.
- REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM ASSEMBLY
- Remove the wiper arm head cap.
- Remove the rear wiper arm assembly.
- REMOVE REAR WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
- Remove the wiper motor assembly.
- REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS ASSEMBLY
- Apply protective tape to the installation position of the back window glass assembly on the vehicle body.
HINT:
Apply protective tape to the installation surface to prevent it from being scratched.
- Pass a piano wire between the vehicle body and glass from the interior.
- Tie both wire ends to wooden blocks or similar objects.
- Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glassNOTE:
- When separating the back window glass, take care not to damage the paint or the interior and exterior ornaments.
- To prevent the package tray trim panel from being scratched when removing the back window glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and package tray trim panel.
- Using a suction cup, remove the back window glass assembly.
NOTE:- Be careful not to drop the back window glass.
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass.
- Apply protective tape to the installation position of the back window glass assembly on the vehicle body.
- CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS
- Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.NOTE: Be careful not to damage the windshield glass.
- Clean the outer circumference of the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.
NOTE:- Do not touch the back window glass surface after cleaning it.
- Even if using a new back window glass, clean the back window glass with a non-residue solvent.
- Using a scraper, remove the adhesive tape and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.
- CLEAN VEHICLE BODY
- Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body
- Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body to ensure the appropriate surface shapeNOTE: Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
HINT.
Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible
- Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with cleaner
HINT.
Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
- Using a knife, cut away any rough adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body to ensure the appropriate surface shape
- Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body
