Intake Air Control System: Inspection
- INSPECT INTAKE AIR CONTROL VALVE
- With 39.9 kPa (300 mm Hg, 11.8 in.Hg) of vacuum applied to the actuator, check that the actuator rod moves. See Fig 1.
- One minute after applying the vacuum, check that the actuator rod does not return. If operation is not as specified, replace the intake manifold.
- INSPECT VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between each terminal.
Resistance: 33 to 39 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
If there is no continuity, replace the VSV.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is no continuity between each terminal and the body.
Resistance: 10 kΩ or higher
If there is continuity, replace the VSV.
- Check that air flows from port E to the filter.
- Apply battery voltage across the terminals.
- Check that air flows from port E to port F. If operation is not as specified, replace the VSV.
- Using an ohmmeter, check that there is continuity between each terminal.
