Fuel Injector: Inspection

INSPECT FUEL INJECTOR ASSEMBLY
1. Inspect the injector resistance.
  1. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals.
    Standard resistance:
    
    13.4 to 14.2 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
    
    If the resistance is not as specified, replace the injector.

2. Inspect the injector.
  CAUTION: Avoid any sparks or flame during the test.
  1. Install the fuel tube connector to SST (hose), then connect the tube connector and fuel pipe.

    CAUTION: Observe the precautions when connecting the fuel tube connector (quick type).
  2. Remove the pressure regulator from the delivery pipe.

  3. Install the O-ring to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator.
  4. Connect the SST (hose) to the fuel inlet of the pressure regulator with another SST (union) and the 2 bolts.
    SST 09268-31011 (95336-08070, 09268-41091)
    
    Torque: 7.5 N*m (80 kgf*cm, 66 in.*lbf)
  5. Connect the fuel return hose to the fuel outlet of the pressure regulator.
  6. Install the O-ring to the injector.
  7. Connect SSTs (union and hose) to the injector, and hold the injector and union with another SST (clamp).

  8. Put the injector into a graduated cylinder.
    CAUTION: Install a suitable vinyl tube onto the injector to prevent gasoline from splashing out.
  9. Operate the fuel pump (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION ).
  10. Connect SST (wire) to the injector and battery for 15 seconds, and measure the injection volume with the graduated cylinder. Test each injector 2 or 3 times.

    Volume:
    
    56 to 69 cm ³ (3.4 to 4.2 cu in.) per 15 seconds
    
    Difference between each injector:
    
    13 cm ³ (0.8 cu in.) or less

    If the injection volume is not as specified, replace the injector.
3. Check for leakage.
  1. In the condition above, disconnect the tester probes of the SST (wire) from the battery and check for fuel leakage from the injector.

    Fuel drop:
    
    1 drop or less per 12 minutes
