Brake Actuator: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FENDER PROTECTOR RH  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING LH  (See REMOVAL )
  8. REMOVE ROOF DRIP SIDE FINISH MOULDING RH  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM HEAD CAP  (See REMOVAL )
  10. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY LH  (See REMOVAL )
  11. REMOVE FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See REMOVAL )
  12. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  13. DRAIN BRAKE FLUID 
    NOTE: If brake fluid leaks onto any painted surface, wash or remove it completely.
  14. SEPARATE NO. 3 ENGINE ROOM RELAY BLOCK  (See REMOVAL )
  15. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL 
  16. SEPARATE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Release the lock lever and disconnect the brake actuator connector.
      NOTE: Be careful not to allow brake fluid to enter the removed connector.

    2. Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the 6 brake lines from the brake actuator with bracket

    3. Use tags or make a memo to identify the places to reconnect

      HINT.

      • *1. To front wheel cylinder RH
      • *2. To front wheel cylinder LH
      • *3. To rear wheel cylinder RH
      • *4. To rear wheel cylinder LH
      • *5. From front of master cylinder
      • *6. From rear of master cylinder

    4. Using a union nut wrench, disconnect the No. 3 front brake tube from the flexible hose

    5. Remove the 2 bolts and nut from the brake actuator with bracket
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tubes.
  17. REMOVE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  18. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR WITH BRACKET 
    1. Remove the grommet and No 3 front brake tube
    2. Remove the brake actuator with bracket.
      NOTE: Do not damage the brake tube.

  19. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR 
    1. Remove the 2 nuts and brake actuator from the brake actuator bracket assembly.
    2. Remove the brake actuator bolt cushion from the brake actuator bracket assembly

  20. REMOVE BRAKE ACTUATOR BOLT CUSHION 
    1. Remove the 2 brake actuator bolt holders and 2 brake actuator bolt cushions from the brake actuator.
