Combination Meter: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system (See PRECAUTION ).
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  7. REMOVE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disengage the 2 clips.

    2. Remove the 2 screws and remove the instrument cluster finish panel sub-assembly.

  8. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER SWITCH ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  9. REMOVE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Attach protective tape to the position indicated in the illustration

    2. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw.

      HINT:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw and pull out the combination meter assembly.

      HINT.

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    4. Disconnect the connectors and remove the combination meter assembly as shown in the illustration.
      NOTE: Do not damage the instrument panel safety pad or combination meter assembly when removing the combination meter assembly.
