Ignition Coil And Spark Plug: Removal

  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is re connected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )
  3. REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See REMOVAL )
  4. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See REMOVAL )
  5. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  (See REMOVAL )
  6. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
  7. REMOVE BATTERY 
    1. Disconnect the 2 clamps
    2. Disconnect the cable from the positive (+) battery terminal.
    3. Remove the nut and the battery clamp.
    4. Remove the battery insulator.
    5. Remove the battery.
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 BATTERY TRAY SUPPORT 
  9. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL )

  10. REMOVE BATTERY TRAY 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and battery tray

  11. REMOVE WIRE HARNESS CLAMP BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts and nut and separate the No 7 engine room relay block.

    2. Remove the bolt and separate the wire harness clamp bracket.
    3. Separate the wire harness clamp from the wire harness clamp bracket.
  12. REMOVE IGNITION COIL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the 8 ignition coil connectors

    2. Remove the 8 bolts and 8 ignition coils.
      NOTE: Do not damage the ignition coils when removing them.

  13. REMOVE SPARK PLUG 
    1. Using a 16 mm plug wrench, remove the 8 spark plugs.
