Fuel Pump: Inspection
- INSPECT FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY
- Inspect the resistance of the fuel pump assembly
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2
Standard resistance: 0.2 to 3.0 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
If the result is not as specified, replace the fuel pump assembly.
- Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2
- Inspect the operation of the fuel pump assembly.
- Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump assembly operates.NOTE:
- These tests must be performed within 10 seconds to prevent the coil from burning out.
- Keep the fuel pump assembly as far away from the battery as possible.
- Always turn the voltage on and off on the battery side, not on the fuel pump assembly side.
- Connect a battery positive (+) lead to terminal 1 of the connector, and a negative (-) lead to terminal 2. Check that the fuel pump assembly operates.
