Inspection Procedure

HINT:

Read freeze frame data using the Techstream The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction.

  1. CHECK FUEL PUMP OPERATION
    1. Check if there is pressure in the fuel inlet hose.

      HINT:

If there is fuel pressure, you will hear the sound of fuel flowing

NG: GO TO FUEL PUMP CONTROL CIRCUIT

    OK: Go to Next Step

  2. CHECK ECM (FRP VOLTAGE)
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      A5-6 (FPR) - E6-1 (E1) STA signal ON 11 to 14 V
      A5-6 (FPR) - E6-1 (E1) STA signal OFF 0 to 3V

    NG: Go to step 3

OK: REPLACE ECM  (See REMOVAL )

  3. INSPECT F/PMP RELAY
    1. Remove the F/PMP relay from the engine room No 2 relay block
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      3 - 4 When no battery applied to terminals 1 and 2 Below 1 Ω
3 - 4 When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2 10 kΩ or more

    3. Reinstall the F/PMP relay

    NG: REPLACE F/PMP RELAY

    OK: Go to Next Step

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (F/PMP RELAY - ECM)
    1. Remove the F/PMP relay from the engine room No 2 relay block
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard Resistance (Check for Open)

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      F/PMP relay (2) - A5-6 (FPR) Always Below 1 Ω

      Standard Resistance (Check for Short)

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION CHART

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
F/PMP relay (2) or A5-6 (FPR) - Body Ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
    4. Reinstall the F/PMP relay.
    5. Reconnect the ECM connector
