Valve Body Assembly: Removal

  1. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER 
  2. REMOVE NO. 1 EXHAUST PIPE SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts, 2 nuts and No. 1 exhaust pipe support bracket

  3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID 
    1. Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF
    2. Install a new gasket and the drain plug

      Torque: 20 N*m (204 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

  4. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 9 bolts, oil pan and gasket from the transmission
      NOTE: Some fluid will remain in the oil pan. Remove all the pan bolts, and carefully remove the oil pan assembly.
    2. Remove the 3 transmission oil cleaner magnets from the oil pan

    3. Examine the particles in the pan
      1. Collect any steel chips with the removed magnets Carefully look at the foreign objects and particles in the pan and on the magnets to guess the type of wear which might be found in the transmission.

        Steel (magnetic). bearing, gear and clutch plate wear

        Brass (non-magnetic) bush wear

  5. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and oil strainer from the valve body.

    2. Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.

  6. REMOVE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the bolt, lock plate and ATF temperature sensor.
    2. Remove the O-ring from the ATF temperature sensor.
    3. Disconnect the oil pressure switch connector.
    4. Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.

    5. Remove the bolt, detent spring cover and detent spring.

    6. Disconnect the lever pin from the manual valve.
      NOTE: Do not drop the check ball body and spring.

    7. Remove the 17 bolts and valve body.

    8. Remove the check ball body and spring.
