Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK FUSE (RR-IG1-3, D S/HTR, D-IG1-3) 
    1. Remove the RR-IG1-3 fuse from the luggage room junction block.
    2. Remove the D S/HTR and D-IG1-3 fuses from the main body ECU.
    3. Measure the resistance of the fuses.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connector Condition Specified Condition
      RR-IG1-3 fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      D S/HTR fuse Always Below 1 Ω
      D-IG1-3 fuse Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FUSE 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the e34 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connector Condition Specified Condition
      e34-12 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connector Switch Condition Specified Condition
      e34-1 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      e34-2 (SYSB) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE SWITCH LH - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the L67 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connector Condition Specified Condition
      L67-2 (E) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    3. Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.

      Standard Voltage 

      VOLTAGE SPECIFIED CONDITIONS

      Tester Connector Switch Condition Specified Condition
      L67-7 (IG) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT CLIMATE CONTROL SWITCH LH 
    1. Remove the L67 switch connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connector Switch Condition Specified Condition
      5 (V5L) - 4 (VSL) Cooler MAX → Heater MAX Below 1 Ω → 5 kΩ

    NG: REPLACE CLIMATE CONTROL SWITCH LH  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU - SEAT CLIMATE SWITCH LH AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the e34 ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the L67 switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connector Condition Specified Condition
      e34-14 (V5) - L67-5 (V5L) Always Below 1 Ω
      e34-18 (VS) - L67-4 (VSL) Always Below 1 Ω
      e34-15 (VG) - L67-3 (VGL) Always Below 1 Ω
      e34-14 (V5) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e34-18 (VS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      e34-15 (VG) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE SEAT CLIMATE CONTROL ECU  (See REMOVAL  )
